Saving Seasonal Labour costs
Some of the outcomes and benefits to growers are:
Action: RSE scheme
Saving $50,000,000
Negotiated the establishment and continued efficient operation of the RSE scheme. Negotiated the further development and expansion of Working Holiday Schemes. Eliminated chronic labour shortages. Estimates put losses due to shortages of labour prior to the introduction of RSE and expanded Working Holiday Schemes at over $100m a year – our estimate is based on $50m. Even growers who are not in RSE benefit as this frees up other people to work for them or they use contractors who are RSE employers.
Action: RSE Employer Conference
Runs the annual RSE Employer Conference. RSE Employer networking and sharing of ideas and challenges leading to the improved operation and increased sustainability of the RSE policy. (
Note the RSE Conference is funded from registrations, not HortNZ Levy).
