The Horticulture Conference 2016

22 Jun 2016

We've put together a fantastic line-up of speakers for this year’s Horticulture Conference, taking place in Nelson from 3 to 5 August. It’s a must go to conference for anyone in the industry.

We’ve rebranded and revamped the annual conference. The conference isn’t about HortNZ, it’s about the horticulture industry and how innovative we are, and the name change reflects that. We intend it to be a showcase for the horticulture industry as a whole, where all growers can come together to learn, network, and be inspired.

The Horticulture Conference is run by Horticulture New Zealand, in conjunction with Pipfruit New Zealand, Vegetables New Zealand, Tomatoes New Zealand, and Process Vegetables New Zealand.

The theme of 2016 is innovation ‘from seed to plate’, and will emphasise the technology and innovation that facilitates our growth, and allows us to deliver some of the world’s best fruit and veg. Discussions on robotics and automation, pest detection technology, use of smart phones, and sustainability will all be hot topics, and there’s a host of top Kiwi and international speakers lined up.

I’m really excited about the keynote speakers. Bill Marler is a partner in Marler Clark, a food safety law firm in the US, who has dealt with many interesting and high profile cases. Closer to home we also have New Zealand native Nadia Lim, the self-proclaimed ‘Nude Chef’, who is not only a paragon of conscientious entrepreneurship, but of course a former New Zealand MasterChef Champion as well.

The conference will be in Nelson this year, at the Rutherford Hotel. Come on down and get involved! I hope to see you there.
