Pukekohe Farm Environment Plan workshops
HortNZ, Vegetables New Zealand, and Pukekohe Vegetable Growers Association are offering workshops to step Auckland and Waikato vegetable growers through a Farm Environment Plan using the NZGAP Environment Management System (EMS) add-on.
Workshop 2 - Wednesday 21 April
The second Farm Environment Plan (FEP) workshop is being held for Pukekohe vegetable growers on Wednesday 21 April.
Field visit 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Before the workshop there will be a field visit to Chris Nicholson’s property, at Smeeds Quarry Road, Pukekawa. Here we will look at sediment retention ponds and discuss effective erosion and sediment controls for cultivated paddocks.
This will help you decide how best to manage the risk of erosion and soil loss from your paddocks in your FEP.
Workshop 2:00 – 4:00 pm
After the field trip, the workshop will take place in the Pukekohe Indian Hall, where lunch will be provided.
Using the NZGAP Environment Management System (EMS) add-on FEP template, the workshop will cover property mapping (Section 5 of the FEP) and soils (Section 6). To get the most out of the day, please review the relevant FEP sections and come prepared with questions.
If you have any questions, please contact Ailsa.Robertson@hortnz.co.nz.
