Timaru District Council has released its Draft District Plan for public feedback before 30 November 2020.
They have branded it ‘a first cut’, which is an acknowledgement that it is not their final position. They are seeking feedback to improve the plan before they notify a Proposed District Plan under the Resource Management Act (RMA). You can provide feedback through:
- Online feedback system in the e-plan
- Meetings with Council staff that can be booked online, or by emailing email@example.com
The draft plan has no legal effect. Therefore, the current rules in the operative District Plan still apply.
What happens with the feedback?
Feedback will be reviewed by staff and then workshopped with Council. The Draft District Plan will then be presented to the Council as a Final Draft for agreement around October 2021. The plan would then be notified as a Proposed District Plan for formal consultation under the RMA.
HortNZ will review the draft Timaru District Plan and provide written feedback in the best interests of growers. We plan to hold a meeting with growers to inform the feedback. Look out for the date.
Submissions close on 30 November 2020.
