Reforming the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme: Proposed settings

28 Feb 2020

The Ministry for the Environment recently consulted on changes to the settings of the ETS scheme, following on from recent consultation on auctioning. The consultation sought feedback on matters such as the provisional emissions budget, how many NZUs will be auctioned and the establishment and level of an auction reserve price floor and price ceiling.

HortNZ, TomatoesNZ and VegetablesNZ highlighted the need for certainty in ETS costs and settings, the impacts for the industry of rising ETS costs and called for further modelling to understand impacts on business ahead of price changes.
