Because there will not be a conference, HortNZ will put extra effort into getting into regions to meet up with growers this year.

Young Grower of the Year

The Young Grower of the Year is an annual competition to find the best young fruit and vegetable grower in New Zealand.  The competition provides exceptional professional development and networking opportunities.

Young growers from around the country compete in regional heats, testing their knowledge and practical horticultural skills.  The winners of the regional competitions then compete in a national final.

The 2022 national final will take place on 21-22 September 2022 in Nelson.

Melissa van den Heuvel was the winner of the 2021 Young Grower of the Year competition. Click here for a recap of the 2021 competition.
