Horticulture Conference

Each year, HortNZ holds a conference bringing together growers and leading industry figures to celebrate industry's achievements and look to the future.

The 2022 Horticulture Conference: Insights for Inspiration will held on 1-2 August at Te Pae, Christchurch’s new conference venue. 

The Horticulture Conference 2022: Insights to Inspire will focus on what our industry can do to shape its future, based on insights developed in the past ten years.  A diverse range of speakers will inspire and offer perspectives from both New Zealand and overseas.

Young Grower of the Year

The Young Grower of the Year is an annual competition to find the best young fruit and vegetable grower in New Zealand.  The competition provides exceptional professional development and networking opportunities. 

Young growers from around the country compete in regional heats, testing their knowledge and practical horticultural skills.  The winners of the regional competitions then compete in a national final.

Melissa van den Heuvel was the winner of the 2021 Young Grower of the Year competition which held on 20-21 October in Lower Hutt, Wellington.

Horticulture industry awards

HortNZ presents five awards to nominees whose notable achievements and commitment to the industry have been recognised.  These awards get presented annually at the Horticulture Conference.
