Omicron update: Registering as a critical business

3 February 2022

Some large growers and parts of our industry have been approached by the Ministry for Primary Industries to pre-register as a critical business.  That information has been provided to the Government.

Registering as a critical business is imperative under Phase 2 of the Omicron response because the registration will be used by the Government to prioritise access to rapid antigen tests (RATs).

The Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment’s (MBIE’s) official critical business registration system is yet to become operational.

Once it is operational, it is important that everyone working within or supporting the horticulture industry registers as a critical business.

Please note that if you are already registered as an essential service with MBIE, you will have to register again as critical once that system is up and running.

Once the new MBIE critical business registration system is up and running, we will let you know immediately.
