Applications now open for 2025 Horticulture New Zealand Leadership Programme scholarships

Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) is calling for scholarship applications for the 2025 HortNZ Leadership Programme run in partnership with Rural Leaders.

The initiative aims to equip emerging leaders in the sector with skills, tools and the confidence to lead change and innovation in horticulture.

The programme, recently refreshed to reflect the changing demands of the sector, offers participants a practical, hands-on development experience.

It is part of HortNZ’s wider efforts to build capability and capacity across the horticulture workforce.

“Supporting leadership development is one of the most powerful things we can do to ensure a strong future for horticulture in New Zealand,” says Kate Scott, chief executive of HortNZ.

“Our Leadership Programme gives participants the skills to step into leadership roles across the sector, whether that’s on-farm, in business, or in governance.

“We’re proud of the impact the programme has had over the years and excited to see how our next cohort of participants will use what they learn to make a difference.”

HortNZ is offering 12 scholarships to enable a diverse group of future leaders to take part in the 2025 programme.

There are also an additional six positions available on the programme at a cost of $5,000 + GST.

Applications are open now and close on Sunday, 6 July.
