Global Seasonal Workforce Visa and Peak Seasonal Visa
11 August 2025
The Global Workforce Seasonal Visa is intended for highly experienced seasonal workers filling recognised skill shortages. For horticulture, the only eligible role under this visa is machinery operator says Kate Scott, chief executive, Horticulture New Zealand.
“For the horticulture industry, the Peak Seasonal Visa (PSV) explicitly excludes all horticulture and production roles covered by the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme.
“The new Global Workforce Seasonal Visa may help employers looking to temporarily fill specialised roles, such as experienced machinery operators that fall outside the scope of the RSE scheme and do not require the longer-term commitment of an Accredited Employer Work Visa.
“HortNZ supports immigration settings that are responsive to workforce needs. We will continue working with Government to ensure that visa policy settings reflect the operational realities of horticulture and support the sector’s ongoing contribution to New Zealand’s economy and food security.”
