NZ GLOBALG.A.P. National Technical Working Group
Think Global, Act Local
The New Zealand GLOBALG.A.P. National Technical Working Group (NZ NTWG), officially launched in 2017 and was established to interpret the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) GLOBALG.A.P. Crops standards at a local level, here in New Zealand.
The Working Group works to identify specific local translations with legislation, systems and implementation challenges of the GLOBALG.A.P. standard for developing relevant guidelines in New Zealand. The annual workplan is set to support both the certification bodies and fruit and vegetable producers to implement the GLOBALG.A.P. requirements at a national level.
GLOBALG.A.P. certification opens up export market opportunities in Europe and across the world for producers in New Zealand.

Main activities and duties
- Development of National Interpretation Guidelines.
- Work closely with regulators to interpret and align New Zealand. legislation with the GLOBALG.A.P. audit process and guidelines e.g. Food Act.
- Collaborative approach in establishing guidelines and sharing of resources across the different sectors for horticulture.
- Maintain strong ties between New Zealand and GLOBALG.A.P. with updates from in New Zealand and approval for the National Interpretation Guidelines.
- Represent New Zealand producers and sectors on the GLOBALG.A.P. Technical Committees by providing feedback on the challenges faced with the GLOBALG.A.P. Standard in New Zealand.
- Work to streamline the GLOBALG.A.P. certification process with numerous compliance requirements in New Zealand, focusing on mitigating audit burden and costs to producers.
